Results: Ekurhuleni Field Champs - 23rd & 24th June 2018

Over the weekend of the 23rd & 24th of June, several ‘Zoolakers’ headed to the South of Joburg to shoot the Ekurhuleni Field Championships held at the X-treme Archery: Alistair Gordon, Mike Basson, Siyabonga Yende, Charni Battams, Dirk Bruynse & I (Dean McHendry) were there representing the club.

Dirk Bruynse & I had the added pressure of needing to shoot our final scores to secure our spots on the Protea Team for the World Field Archery Championships to be held in Potchefstroom in October of this year. In typical Dirk style, Dirk took it down to the last target of the day to secure the score! Both of us managed the 330 + score on day one and we are awaiting final confirmation of our Protea Colours.

Alistair Gordon managed with a personal best on the Field Round of 316. Breaking the 300 mark is no small achievement on a Barebow Recurve.

Mike Basson also with a PB on the Hunter Round with a 340. Great score and huge improvement from day 1.

I, (Dean), also shot a PB on the Hunter Round which would have broken the National Record for AMBH(R) had one of the targets not been the wrong size.

All the final scores for the event are as follows: (Note: Dirk’s day 1 score was entered incorrectly and is actually 331.)
