As it stands now, the Archers of Zoo Lake Archery Club (registered and affiliated to SANAA) is not open to its members. The National Federation (South African National Archery Association or SANAA) has not made any allowances for easing of restrictions as we move down the levels of lockdown in South Africa. The regulations that were approved by the Sports Department remain the same for Levels 3, 2 & 1. These regulations require access and services to be limited to only full individual members of the SANAA and their access is only permitted with supervision from a trained and appointed COVID-19 compliance officer. This quite simply means that the open access that has been available to club members in the past is not permitted under these regulations.
However, Sentient Archery in its private capacity as a sports & recreation company is permitted to operate under the Level 1 regulations issued directly by government. This is why we are able to host classes and private lessons. All members of the club are also Sentient Archery clients. Now that we are established and happy with the protocols we would like to trial run limited unsupervised access to these specific clients. This will be run as a trial for the month of October. If all works well, we will continue and may slowly relax the restrictions further.
(We are also requesting that all members that are currently enrolled in classes to please stay enrolled. We are heavily dependant on the class fees to continue paying the team. We are re-establishing ourselves quickly but we are still not yet fully covering our monthly expenses.)
As of the 4th of October, existing 2020 members will be permitted access to the club ground for practice under these strict conditions:
The protocols and regulations outlined in the Range Protocol Document are read, understood and followed strictly at all times.
If an archer does not respect these regulations then access to that individual may be revoked without warning.
Archers and any other person entering the premises are to complete an online screening form every time they access the club grounds. Here is the link for quick reference: A QR code will also be printed and displayed on the club house with the direct link to this form. The form can also be found on the Archers of Zoolake webpage at all times.
Access will only be available on days that classes, lessons & training sessions are NOT scheduled for. Training is currently scheduled for Wednesday, Friday & Saturday. This means open access will only be available on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday.
Access will be limited to the field area. The club house will remain off limits.
Archers will need to bring all of their own equipment including targets and target pins.
Archers are to bring their own hand sanitiser and use it regularly.
Sharing of archery equipment is not permitted.
All national lockdown regulations must be strictly adhered to. This includes:
Wearing a face mask at all times while on the archery range.
Social distancing must be followed at all times. 1 x Archer per butt/lane.
A maximum of 10 archers may occupy the field at one time. If the range is full, you may have to wait for an archer to leave before entering the field.
Parents & Guardians are to please remain away from the field of play at all times.
Archers are not to enter the premises if they are feeling unwell, are sick, suspect they mayb be infected with COVID-19 or been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
Thank you for your compliance and understanding.
