Our plans for COVID-19 (Corona Virus)

To all of our clients, supporters and members.

By now we are sure that everyone is aware of the potential and likely negative impacts of the COVID-19 virus in South Africa. Not just on our personal health but on our economy and our daily lifestyle for the foreseeable future.

We want to let our clients know that we are taking this very seriously and we are doing everything we can to keep our clients and team safe while also doing our part to flatten the infection curve within our community. We want our clients to feel that the club is a safe place and if we all play our part, the interruptions and inconveniences will be limited and short-lived. We have already put in place strict hygiene and disinfecting procedures at the club and we will be intensifying those efforts before any more classes or lessons take place. Also keep in mind that being outside and in a more natural setting is always good for mood, energy and health. A full protocol for use of the facilities going forward is outlined below. Please take the time to read through and comply with all of the procedures laid out.

While the health of our clients, employees and community is our main concern, as a small business we have the added stress and worry of the massive financial implications we face if we are unable to maintain our income each month. We are a team of seven employees that rely almost solely on the club for our livelihood. We do not have any reserves or insurance for times like these. If you, our clients, make the decision to halt payments, we will simply not be able to cover our expenses. Salaries will not be able to be paid. It is scary to even think about what this will mean for our team. We are going to be doing everything we can to reduce our monthly expenses and retain income, but we are appealing to all of you, if you have ever gained anything from us, the coaches and the sport, now is the time to please pay it back by supporting us through this tough time.

We do not want to ask clients to continue paying us without still offering you value.

This is our plan:

  1. We will be continuing with classes and lessons with a very strict hygiene protocol (outlined below). Please keep coming and if you are not currently enrolled please consider signing up again. Our groups are small and we will spread everyone out.

  2. We are preparing to create digital resources in the form of blog posts, videos, tutorials and exclusive content for all of you to benefit from. Some of the content will be released to our entire community but the exclusive content will only be sent to clients that continue tuition payments.

  3. We will be supplying all of our enrolled clients with free ‘theraband’ elastics for home exercise and training. These can be collected at your next class or lesson. We will create tutorials on how to use these elastics to improve your archery and overall fitness & strength.

  4. Once the worst of this has passed, we will be happy to open additional classes to make up for any missed training that might occur.

  5. We will continue to monitor the progress and developments in South Africa and adjust our procedures and plans accordingly.

Hygiene Protocol for the clubs:

  1. All clients that are sick AND/OR have been traveling internationally (especially to high risk countries) are to please NOT come to the range at all.

  2. Hand washing stations are being set up on the range. Please wash your hands on arrival and before you leave the range.

  3. Please keep your distance from coaches and fellow archers while on the range. Minimum 1 metre at all times. No physical contact.

  4. Coaches are not permitted to make any physical contact with clients under any circumstances.

  5. Archers will be spread out on the range as much as possible. Ideally, not more than two archers per lane.

  6. Archers are to handle their own archery equipment, only. That includes retrieving arrows. Do not touch anyone else’s equipment.

  7. Avoid touching the targets with your hands while retrieving your arrows. Use the back of your forearm.

  8. ALL club training equipment will be disinfected before and after every session. We will have to shorten all sessions slightly to allow time for this. Disinfectant will be available for archers to clean their own bows as well.

  9. The kitchen and non-essential communal areas at the club will no longer be accessible to anyone other than employees. Please avoid the club house and facilities that our employees have to use.

  10. If it is raining, it is probably best not to come through, our club house is small and confined.
